Biography
A student of Friedrich
Gumpert at the Royal Conservatory in Leipzig,
Max Pottag began his career as the principal horn
of the Hamburg Symphony. He later emigrated to
America, and in 1907 he joined the Chicago
Symphony where he was the second hornist for
thirty-seven years, and the third hornist for
three years.
