Biography
A few years after graduating from the Franz
Lizst Academy in 1957, Peter Damm (b. 1937) joined
the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra. In 1969, he
became first horn with the prestigious Dresden
State Orchestra.
He has appeared in solo performances in Europe,
Japan, South America, and the United States. Damm
has played the Strauss First Concerto in over 140
performances.
His editions of the standard literature are
published by Breitkopf and Härtel, and on the
Eterna label he has recorded some thirty solo
works.
Damm has served as horn professor at the Carl
Maria von Weber Conservatory in Dresden, and is a
frequent guest professor all over the world
